My thoughts this morning on @thetodayshow about the Bondi Junction massacre.

Very teary and angry this morning. Time to turn the news off.

This coward targeted women.

He killed five women, one man, injured 12 and stabbed a baby. It’s fitting that a brave solo female police officer shot him. She is a hero.

My thanks goes to those brave bystanders who tried to stop him or offered first aid, comfort or refuge to others.

You never know what you would do in a situation like this but those people stepped up.

The man with the bollard on the escalator deserves a bravery medal.

Huge thank you to the police and ambulance and other first responders who run towards danger while others are fleeing.

They deserve our respect 365 days a year but today they also deserve our heartfelt thanks.

They say in a tragedy look for the helpers. Thanks to those who WERE helpers.

Why does the long weekend feel like it was so long ago?

I have come up with a new plan for myself called: ZERO DAYS.

I often put in long hours and work at 120% juggling a lot of projects at once. But I’ve also been close to burnout twice. So to counteract that I’ve decided I need at least one day a week to be a ZERO day. No work, not even an email. No commitments. No responsibilities. Just filling my cup back up.

I’ve been doing it for a few months and it’s really helping me restore balance.

Even though I had four days off over Easter it was filled with cleaning and preparing for family events and general racing around. Fun but not ZERO.

This Saturday will be my ZERO day. Darren is working so the puppies and I will sleep in, go for a walk and probably watch TV while snuggling on the couch.

Do you have ZERO days and what do they look like?

I can’t believe this was only seven days ago!

Nothing better than bagging out my Dad as “Tightarse Kev” on national television.

Millennials are complaining that their parents are spending their inheritances. I say spend more!

So much fun on @thetodayshow with @davidcampbell73 and @belinda.russell

And even more fun when you can watch it an hour later in Queensland thanks to no daylight savings.

But Kev won’t cave to the pressure!

Basil explosion!

Screw pesto… I have a better idea.

Basil Lime Mojitos! (I think I made it up but trust me it works!)

2 cups water
2 cups sugar
8 limes, zested and juiced
1 very large bunch basil, blended to a puree

Place the water and sugar in a pan, bring to a boil, and simmer for 4 minutes with the lime zest. Remove from the heat, and allow to cool for a while. Add the lime juice and basil puree. Stir this up and leave to infuse for a while. Cool in fridge.

To serve:
30ml vodka
15ml basil lime sugar syrup
Soda water
Ice

Drink up! Basiltastic!

Happy Easter weekend.

So I think we enjoyed this a whole lot more than the puppies did!

Mr Barkley and Maui weren’t impressed with the bunny ears. But they are so cute!

We then did an Easter egg hunt for Kristie’s kids (and a strict egg count at the end to make sure the doggos didn’t find any - chocolate is deadly for dogs)

Now the clean up begins before my family arrives.

And I’m having four ZERO days. That means ZERO WORK. Hoo-bloody-rah! I hope you have some time off too.

Another Speak with Impact Workshop went off with a bang.

These three incredible women all felt nervous and vulnerable but they knuckled down, worked hard, supported each other and emerged as confident kickass women ready to be heard.

Oh boy @the_carmen_show @bianca_o1sen @nikkigoodger you all rocked it.

This course will take you out of your comfort zone but that is how you grow.
